CRACK TESTING METHOD FOR THICK PLATE WELDING ZONE

PURPOSE: A crack test method for a welding zone of a thick plate is provided to easily recognize the occurrence of crack on a welding zone of a thick plate and estimate the crack resistance of the welding zone from the Vickers hardness of a heat affect zone. CONSTITUTION: A crack test method for a welding zone of a thick plate is as follows. A thick plate is cut into a horizontal member having a length of 400mm~600mm and a width of 200~300mm and a vertical member having the same length as the horizontal member and a width of 100mm~200mm(S-11). The vertical member is arranged in the central line of the horizontal member to have an inverted T shaped cross section(S-12). A fillet part where the horizontal and vertical members meet is welded(S-13). Test welding is implemented on the other fillet part(S-14). The surface crack and root cracking of the test welded part are inspected after leaving the welded part at the room temperature(S-15).
