PURPOSE: A position detecting apparatus and method are provided to reduce scan time by dividing a scanning target into a plurality of scan areas and simultaneously scanning the scan areas. CONSTITUTION: A position detecting apparatus comprises a first conductor pattern(12) which is composed of a plurality of conductors(11) arranged in a first direction, a second conductor pattern(14) which is composed of a plurality of conductors(13) arranged in a second direction crossing the first direction, and a signal detection part(34) which detects a signal generated in one of the first and second conductor patterns based on the position indication by an indicator. |
