PURPOSE: An image display device and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to select for extracting thumbnail image from a specific part of an image. CONSTITUTION: A remote control interface unit receives thumbnail extraction target area information(S510). A control unit extracts the thumbnail image from the thumbnail extraction area(S520). A storage unit stores the extracted thumbnail image(S530). A display unit displays thumbnail image which is extracted around the thumbnail image(S540).
