A light-transmitting shield by which an electric lamp is totally enclosed when the shield is in position has light-transmitting walls formed by transparent or translucent bars encased in apertured metal tubes. In the form shown, the shield is cylindrical and its peripheral wall is formed by metal tubes 1 enclosing bars 2 of " Perspex." The tubes 1 have diametrically opposite apertures 3 for passage of light. One end of the shield is closed by a cover-plate, the other end being provided with a threaded ring 5 for connection to the lamp fitting. The tubes 1 are connected to the ring 5 and plate by hard soldering and are connected to one another by hard soldered seams 11. The interior of the tubes may be painted white and the bars secured therein by white lute. |
