PURPOSE: A composition containing xanthohumol or derivative thereof is provided to prevent radiation resistance and to enhance radiation anticancer therapy efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A composition for enhancing radiation anticancer therapy contains xanthohumol or derivative thereof of chemical formula 1 or 2 as an active ingredient and pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient. The compound sensitizes drug resistant cancer cell radiation-induced apoptosis. The radiation is gamma ray. A method for enhancing sensitivity of radiation of mammalian cancer cells comprises a step of administering the composition together with the cancer cells.
