PURPOSE: A digital image processing apparatus and control method thereof are provided to perform the photograph without separation of a photographing object from a photographing range. CONSTITUTION: A detection unit(171) detects one or more face from an image. A setting unit(172) sets up a tracing object which is selected from a detected face. An extraction unit(173) extracts tracking information from the interest area. A tracking unit(174) tracks an interest area within the image based on extracted information.
