The device (1) can be used for cleaning smooth surfaces. A hexagonal operating element or an element with rounded corners is attached to a swivel mounted stick (11), which can be telescopic. The element (1) is of a long (5) and narrow (6) shape and has a holding unit (2) made of rigid plastic. A soft cleaning part (3) with an abrasive lower surface (14) is attached to the lower surface of the holding element (2) exceeding the element at the surrounding edges (4). The parts (2,3) are joined with complementary patches of Velcro(RTM).
