BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A battery management system and a driving method thereof are provided to prevent the explosion of vehicles caused by the short circuit of a short circuit battery cell by enabling the replace of the short circuit battery cell. CONSTITUTION: A battery management system comprises: a sensing part measuring the cell voltage and cell current of a plurality of battery cells; and a main control unit controlling the charging/discharging by measuring the SOC(state of charge) of the battery cell using the cell voltage and cell current of the battery cell. The main control unit includes: an SOC measurement part which measures a first SOC of the battery cell when key is off and a second SOC when key is on; and a control part determining the short battery cell using the measured SOCs.
