PURPOSE: A noise and interference power estimation apparatus and method thereof in a communication system are provided to set up the average value of impulse response as NITH. CONSTITUTION: An average time operator calculates the average value of a ranging code impulse response with the use of a ranging signal column that is received through a ranging channel. An aligner(211) aligns the average value of the ranging code impulse response. A multiplier(219) multiplies a specific critical value by the ranging code.
