PURPOSE: An energy generating apparatus is provided to generate energy in an environmentally friendly manner by converting potential energy into kinetic energy. CONSTITUTION: An energy generating apparatus comprises a fixed frame(10), a movable frame, an energy converting unit(30), a generator, and a back-and-forth moving unit. The fixed frame comprises a pair of posts and a base. The movable frame is connected to the posts. The energy converting unit is connected to the movable frame via a rotary shaft and includes a weight which is connected to the rotary shaft and rotated according to the movement of the movable frame. The generator converts the kinetic energy generated by the rotation of the weight into the electric energy. The sensor senses the movement of the movable frame. The back-and-forth moving unit moves the movable frame according to the signal outputted from the sensor.
