The invention relates to an integral voltage regulator (61) and brush-carrier (60) assembly (14) for a multiple phase rotary electric machine, said assembly comprising a body (66) made of an electrically insulating material and adapted for carrying as a projection a heat sink (65) including a plurality of axial passages through which a coolant such as air axially flows. The rotary electric machine is characterised in that it comprises such an assembly. The invention can be used in an alternator for an automobile.
