PURPOSE: An image signal processing apparatus and a method thereof are provided to compensate for image quality and optimize power consumption. CONSTITUTION: An image signal processing method comprises the steps of: dividing an image frame into a plurality of blocks(S401); analyzing the histogram of each block(S402); determining whether a backlight unit of each block is controllable; and compensating for image quality by controlling the backlight unit coping with each block by a property of an image distribution character(S409). |
