PURPOSE: A lamp operation apparatus is provided to compare a first comparison result signal and a predetermined second comparison result signal in order to suppress excessive operation voltage supplied to the lamp, thereby enabling to eliminate a flicker phenomenon which is able to appear in a display screen and operating the lamp stably. CONSTITUTION: A power supplying part(110) supplies operation voltage to a lamp and controls the brightness of the lamp according to a dimming signal. A first comparison result signal is provided by comparing a detection signal by detecting current flow through the lamp when the dimming signal is high and a predetermined reference signal. A second comparison result signal which is provided by a signal providing part has a predetermined voltage level when the dimming signal is low. A control part(130) controls switching of the power supplying part according to a signal provided from the signal providing part.
