PURPOSE: A solar position tracking system is provided to check the state of the sun with minimum facilities and management expense by including a determining unit for the floating status of the sun to check the floating status of the sun only at a constant time interval. CONSTITUTION: A pan/tilting drive unit(20) drives a solar panel(10) to be circulated to a top and a bottom direction by tilting and to a horizontal direction by panning. A GPS receiver(30) obtains the installation position information of the solar panel. An electron compass(40) is arranged in the solar panel and measures the position and the altitude of the solar panel. A solar position measuring unit(50) measures the actual position and the actual altitude of the sun. A controlling unit(70) calculates the position and the altitude of the sun based on the position information of the solar panel, which is obtained from the GPS receiver using an ephemeris. The calculated position and altitude of the sun are applied to control the pan/tilting drive unit. The controlling unit dives and controls the position and the angle of pan/tilting drive unit by comparing the data, calculated by the ephemeris, with measured values in the solar position measuring unit. |
