849,924. Blow moulding hollow plastic articles. OWENS-ILLINOIS GLASS CO. March 6, 1957, No. 7356/57. Class 87(2). In apparatus for forming a plurality of aligned hollow plastic articles by the blowing of individual extruded tubes in separate moulds which are opened after blowing to expose the blown articles, a take-out device is reciprocable intermediate the mould sections and is provided with article-grasping elements for withdrawing the blown articles on retraction. An arm 91 may be swung about a pivot 92 on the machine frame by a cylinder 93 and has a pair of jaws 94, forming the article-grasping elements, mounted on its end remote from the pivot 92. The jaws 94 are independently actuated between open and closed positions by a small cylinder 95 mounted on the arm 91 and operating on links 96. Stops 98 and 99 are provided to limit the inward and outward movement, respectively, of the arm 91. When the jaws 94 first grasp the finished article, they are prevented from fully closing by contact of the links 96 with the frame of the machine. On retraction of the arm 91, this restraining action is removed and the jaws 94 are permitted to tightly grip the articles.
|
