The invention relates to a method and an equipment for the control of crimping fastening of a metal fitting on a fibre glass rod. According to the invention, the method consists in setting the crimping pressure and the period of maintaining said value of the crimping pressure, depending on the value of the acoustic emissions. The claimed method uses an equipment which comprises an acoustic sensor () mounted on a die () of a crimping press (), which detects acoustic emissions occurring during the crimping fastening of a fitting () onto a rod () of an insulator made of a composite material and sends the electric signal to a pre-amplifying-filtering-amplifying equipment (), wherefrom the signal is sent to an equipment () for monitoring the acoustic emissions and controlling the crimping pressure, which also receives a pressure electric signal from the hydraulic installation () by means of a pressure transducer () and is in connection with a computer () running a program which, by means of this last mentioned equipment (), limits the crimping pressure achieved in the hydraulic installation ().
