Disclosed herein is a method for improving the surface smoothness of planar textile structures, in particular sails, awnings or textiles which can be used in motor vehicles, by applying at least one aminopolysiloxane of formula (I), wherein the substituents are as defined within the specification. As a result, it is possible to obtain individual and in particular, combinations of properties and effects, such as improved aerodynamic properties, reduced air permeability, good dirt repellent, increased elasticity, good resistance to water, and reduced frictional forces when used.
