CHILD RESISTANT CLOSURE FOR A TAP

A tap assembly 10 comprising a valve body 14 with a first wall defining a valve chamber, the first wall having a pair of opposed tracks extending axially along an inner surface of the first wall, and a fluid exit 20, and a tap handle 12 mounted to the valve body 14 for rotational movement of the tap handle 12 with respect to the first wall. The tap handle 12 has a second wall defining an annular chamber supporting a set of threads, and a generally tubular valve stem 16 having a first end and an opposed second end. The first end of the valve stem 16 has a pair of lugs 56 circumferentially spaced from one another, the lugs being positioned within the threads, and the second end of the valve stem 16 extends into the valve chamber. The valve stem 16 is responsive to movement of the tap handle 12 to move from a first position where the fluid exit 20 is sealed by the second end of the valve stem 16 to a second position where the fluid exit 20 is not sealed by the second end of the valve stem 16 and fluid is allowed to flow through the fluid exit 20.
