Provided is the use of a pharmaceutical formulation in the preparation of a medicament for treating a subject having a condition treatable by a pharmaceutically active peptidic compound, wherein the pharmaceutical formulation comprises a solid ionic complex of a pharmaceutically active peptidic compound and a carrier macromolecule, wherein the peptidic compound is not an LHRH analogue; wherein prior to complexing with the pharmaceutically active peptidic compound, the carrier molecule is water soluble; wherein the peptidic compound present within the pharmaceutical formulation is in excess relative to the carrier macromolecule on a weight/weight basis; and wherein the pharmaceutical composition is suitable for parenteral administration. The carrier can be carboxymethylcellulose.
