Antibodies against human interleukin-13 and uses therefor

Disclosed is a purified antibody comprising a heavy chain immunoglobulin variable domain and a light chain immunoglobulin variable domain that binds to IL-13 with a KD of less than 10-7 M as determined by surface plasmon resonance and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the antibody. Also disclosed is the use of a composition comprising an effective amount of the antibody in the manufacture of a medicament for treating an IL 13-associated disorder wherein the disorder can be asthmatic disorders, atopic disorders, allergic rhinitis, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), conditions involving airway inflammation, eosinophilia, fibrosis and excess mucus production, inflammatory conditions, autoimmune conditions, tumours or cancers, viral infection, and suppression of expression of protective type 1 immune responses.
