<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning member capable of improving cleaning performance at the end of a cleaning material spirally wound around a core material, and to provide a cleaning device, an assembly, and an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The ridge line 72A of the cleaning material 72 is exposed from the opening 80 of a holding material 78, and the cleaning member 72 is held by the holding material 78 so that the ridge line 72A of the cleaning material 72 radially projects from the opening 80. Thus, by exposing the ridge line 72A of the cleaning material 72 from the opening 80 of the holding material 78, a height that is equivalent to that of a general portion is secured even at the end of the cleaning material 72. Accordingly, when the cleaning member 64 is slave-rotated accompanied by the rotation of a charging member 20, the end of the cleaning material 72 is pressed by the charging member 20, elastically deformed in the height direction and width direction, and restored.
