PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase read speed while suppressing fixed pattern noise, in a configuration for changing a gain of an amplifier for amplifying a signal output from a pixel to a pixel signal line. SOLUTION: A photoelectric conversion apparatus 10 includes: a pixel output line 106; a pixel 100 which outputs a signal to the pixel output line 106; an amplifier 130 for amplifying the signal output to the pixel output line 106; and holding capacitors 112s, 112n for holding signals to be output from the amplifier 130. The photoelectric conversion apparatus 10 outputs a pixel signal based on signals held in the holding capacitors 112s, 112n. The amplifier 130 includes a variable amplifying stage 120 for amplifying a signal output to the pixel output line 106 using a gain selected from among a plurality of gains, and a buffer stage 132 in which signals output from the variable amplifying stage 120 are amplified and held by the holding capacitors 112s, 112n.
