PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniquely set an address to each of terminal devices on a network even when a plurality of terminal devices each having an address allocation function are connected to the same network. SOLUTION: A first terminal device 10a having an address allocation function 11 has: a determination means 15 for determining the presence/absence of any other terminal device, whose address allocation function 11 is made valid, on the same network when connecting to the network; and a switching means 16 for switching validity/invalidity of its own address allocation function 11 in accordance with a determination result of the determination means 15. When the presence of the other terminal device with the valid address allocation function 11 is determined by the determination means 15, the switching means 16 invalidates the address allocation function 11; and when the absence of the other terminal device with the valid address allocation function 11 is determined, the switching means 16 validates the address allocation function 11.
