PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a proper search result, even when a suitable search object differs, depending on the attribute of the content that includes a search word. SOLUTION: A search support apparatus 10 includes a content acquiring unit 11 for acquiring content via an information transmission medium; a search word generation unit 12 for extracting a keyword from the acquired content to generate a search word; a search engine selecting unit 13 for selecting a search engine based on a content attribute indicating the attribute of content of an extraction source of the search word generated by the search word generating unit 12; a search query transmitting unit 14 for requesting a search, by designating the search word generated by the search word generating unit 12, to the search engine selected by the search engine selecting unit 13; a search result reception unit 15 for receiving a search result from the search engine to which the search has been requested; and a relevant content generating unit 16 for generating relevant content related to the content, based on the content acquired by the content acquiring unit 11 and a search result received by the search result receiving unit 15.
