In a battery charging control system selectively charging a plurality of batteries having different voltages with energy generated by an alternator, the charging power can be made as large as possible. The battery charging control system comprises an alternator, the generating voltage of which can be changed and a plurality of batteries having different charging voltages. In the battery charging control system, the maximum generating power that is the maximum power the alternator can generate and the maximum charging power that is the maximum power acceptable to each of the batteries are obtained and are compared with each other. A battery having an allowable maximum charging power is selected from the comparison results and charging is performed.
