<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type video display apparatus that takes measures to cope with high temperature by efficiently using cooling air of another cooling device without increasing an air amount of a lamp cooling fan. <P>SOLUTION: The projection type video display apparatus has a lamp cooling device 70 to which air is sent so that a light source lamp 1 may be cooled, and a power source cooling device 90 to which air is sent so that a lamp power source part 87 for supplying power to the light source lamp 1 may be cooled. In the power source cooling device 90, the air, which has cooled the lamp power source part 87, is discharged to a selected place around the light source lamp 1 by a duct 91.
