PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a code for finely and efficiently presenting information, a method and device to detect and recognize the code.

SOLUTION: In sequence codes being expressed as a pattern containing a plurality of elements each showing one data unit, the element is formed by containing one or more codes or the arrays. The array of elements is set so that all data expressed by sections which are arrays of predetermined number of elements which continue from different head positions respectively in the sequence codes may differ. The pattern is cyclically formed according to a rule of sequence code formation, with one or more elements or one or more symbols as a unit.
