The method involves adhering a new material roller (4) at a running material web (6) at an engine speed. The adhering process is initiated by the recognition of an adhesive label on the material roller. Recognition of the adhesive label is immediately executed by a sensor (2) according to axial alignment of the material roller in the roll replacing machine, where the sensor is provided at a roller carrier. The material roller is rotated around a revolution in a test position. A current angle of the new material roller is stored according to the axial alignment. An independent claim is also included for a roll replacing machine for performing a method for executing a flying roller changing process.
