The invention relates to a rubber compound containing no or less than 0.5 phr zinc, which can be used for the manufacture of tyres, the compound being based on at least: a diene elastomer; a sulphur-based crosslinking system; an inorganic filler as reinforcing filler; and a blocked mercaptosilane of the following general formula (I) in which formula (I): R1 which are the same or different, each represent a monovalent hydrocarbon group chosen from alkyls, whether linear or branched, cycloalkyls or aryls, having 1 to 18 carbon atoms; A represents hydrogen or a monovalent hydrocarbon group chosen from alkyls, whether linear or branched, cycloalkyls or aryls, having 1 to 18 carbon atoms; Z represents a divalently bonded group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms; and n is an integer equal to 0, 1 or 2.
