Class 141 [Also in Groups XIV and XXV] Means for carrying a baby &c. on the back of a person comprises a U-shaped base frame 10 covered with fabric, a U-shaped back frame 25, and a third U-shaped frame 31 which forms an enclosing support. The carrier is supported on the wearer by webbing 17 secured between the ends of extensions 14 of the frame 10 and by straps 44 attached to the ends of the base frame extensions 14 and to webbing 40 which is looped over the back frame 25 being anchored at its ends to the base frame fabric and to a cross-bar 18. Webbing 37, 38 anchored to the base frame fabric is looped over the frame 31. The frames 10, 25 and 31 are connected by pivoted joints (see Group XXV) which permit movement through 90 degrees so that the carrier may be collapsed. The carrier may be utilized as a seat for a child in a car by engaging hook member 55, Fig. 7, with studs 33 on the back frame 25. The carrier may be converted into a chair by turning the extensions 14 into a vertical position to form back legs and attaching separate front legs to bolts 50 on the base frame 10. |
