PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weight body of a counterweight of an elevator having a concrete portion which is not damaged by a fixing means for fixing a large number of stacked weight bodies to prevent the weight bodies from being displaced vertically. SOLUTION: The weight body is mounted to the counterweight of an elevator in a stacked state, fixed by the fixing means so as not to be displaced vertically, and constituted by filling a metal frame 26 with concrete. A protective means which receives the downward a pressing force of the fixing means is installed on the upper surface of the weight body at a portion with which the fixing means is brought into contact. Since the fixing means is not brought into contact directly with the concrete portion of the weight body, the fixing of the weight body in the vertical direction is not loosened by the damage of the concrete portion.
