PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance safety by preventing the occurrence of such a dangerous situation that the whole sliding door is slid to a front side and brought down as ever, even when a floor-side sliding unit of the sliding door becomes apt to come off a floor-side guide rail. SOLUTION: An upside guide rail 23 has a channel section with a lip, the downside opening end of which is equipped with a pair of right and left horizontal overhanging plate portions 24b and 24a; an upside sliding unit 14 of the sliding door 3 includes an ascending/descending rotating shaft body 26 which can ascend/descend in a vertical axial direction and rotate on its axis, a sliding member 27 which is attached to the upper end of the ascending/descending rotating shaft body 26, and a lock means 28; and the sliding member 27 includes a horizontally long rod-like body which can ascend/descend and pass between the horizontal overhanging plate portions of the upside guide rail 23 in a vertically-directed attitude, while it cannot ascend/descend and pass between the horizontal overhanging plate portions of the upside guide rail 23 in a horizontally-directed attitude. The lock means 28 can freely switch between the locking state of inhibiting the rotation of the ascending/descending rotating shaft body 26 in a state in which the sliding member 27 is in the horizontally-directed attitude on the upside guide rail 23, and the unlocking state of permitting turning between the horizontally-directed and vertically-directed attitudes of the sliding member 27 and ascent/descent in the vertically-directed attitude in the upside guide rail 23.
