PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for supplying a rolling mill lubricant which continuously spray a uniformly mixed rolling mill lubricant to the surfaces of metallic strips even if the strips have various changed width dimensions, at a predetermined concentration and uniformly over the whole in the width direction of the metallic strip. SOLUTION: The apparatus for supplying the rolling mill lubricant supplies a coolant containing the rolling mill lubricant onto the surface of the metallic strip in a rolling mill, the apparatus includes: a mixing tank for preparing the coolant by mixing the rolling mill lubricant and liquid; a header device which has a plurality of nozzle members and sprays a supplied coolant to the surface of the metallic strip uniformly in the width direction of the metallic strip; a supplying passage for supplying the coolant from the mixing tank to the header device; and a return passage through which the coolant not used for spray in the header device is returned from the terminal part of the flow passage of the header device to the mixing tank.
