The desk has a workpiece carrier (2) i.e. removable disk, rotatably mounted on a substructure (1). A rotary drive (3) i.e. torque drive, rotatingly drives the workpiece carrier for machining a workpiece mounted on the workpiece carrier by lathing. The workpiece carrier is annularly formed and annularly surrounds a coaxially arranged receiving plate (4) of a top plate (5), which is integrated in the substructure. The top plate includes another rotary drive (6) for driving the receiving plate for machining the workpiece mounted on the receiving plate by lathing.
