The method involves regulating an automatically movable cleaning device (1) with respect to partition walls (W) via a map-like representation of a room. A fully accommodated rectangular area is defined to an entire area to be cleaned. Driving lines for the cleaning device are equidistant in the rectangular area parallel to one side of a rectangle part and end in partitioned areas. An obstacle i.e. chair, is positioned inside a surface area, where dimensions of an edge of the rectangular area are greater than dimensions set by a maximum movement of the obstacle in a specific direction. The cleaning device is formed as a suction-and sweeping device and movable household floor cleaning device.
