<p>The disclosed video encoding device capable of suppressing increase in memory capacity for holding an in-plane reference image is provided with a reconstruction unit (13) for generating a reconstructed image from differential image information, extracted from a video stream by a decoding unit (10), an inverse quantization unit (11), and an inverse orthogonal transformation unit (12), and a previously generated predicted image; a compression unit (20) for compressing a portion of the reconstructed image; an in-plane reference image memory (30) for storing the compressed portion of the reconstructed image; a decompression unit (40) for decompressing the compressed portion of the reconstructed image stored in the in-plane reference image memory (30) into an in-plane reference image; an in-plane prediction unit (52) for generating a predicted image used in generation of a separate reconstructed image in the same plane as the first-mentioned reconstructed image using the in-plane reference image; a filter (14) for generating a reproduced image; an inter-plane reference image memory (50) for storing the reproduced image; and an inter-plane prediction unit (54) for applying motion compensation to the reproduced image.</p> |
