Provided is a container for retaining moisture and refrigeration, wherein the cost for retaining moisture is not necessary. The container is disposed within a space cooled to a predetermined temperature, to moisturize and refrigerate an object to be stored, and is comprised of a container body and a closure. The container body is composed of a metal, and has a bottom wall, a side wall surrounding the periphery of the bottom wall to define an inner space, and shelves connected to the side wall, which divide the inner space into space portions for storing objects to be stored, said space portions having a humidity higher than the humidity before cooling the space portions, when the space portions are cooled to a predetermined temperature. The closure is composed of a metal, and is hermetically attached to the side wall, to seal the inner space. Thus, the moisture contained in the air of the inner space and the moisture contained in the objects to be stored can be prevented from leaking to the outside of the inner space. As the temperature of the inner space is reduced, the amount of saturated vapor in the air of the inner space is reduced, and the moisture content is increased and, thus, the objects to be stored are moisturized.
