<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for restoring a tilted object which can restore a tilted building, a machine device, or the like safely by a simple method, and also provide a lift device usable for the restoring method. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for restoring a tilted object inclined by an earthquake or the like, lifting means 10 for lifting the tilted object is installed near the tilted object, the lifting means 10 and the tilted object are connected to each other with a connection means 2. Jacks 12 provided to the lifting means 10 are operated to lift the tilted object upward so that the tilted object is positioned horizontally. Since the tilted object is lifted by the lifting means 10 disposed near the tilted object and positioned horizontally, the jacks 12 or the like do not need to be installed below the tilted object.
