PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To update firmware without stopping a partition under operation, in a method of updating the firmware in the partition. SOLUTION: Management units (2A, 2B) that monitor partitions (3A-3D) in operation receive firmware from an external device (9) and transmit the firmware to each of the partitions (3A-3D). Each of the partitions (3A-3D) writes and updates the firmware in one memory area which is not used in operation out of a pair of memory areas (36A, 36B).
