PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bank bill separating and delivering mechanism of a bank bill processor capable of preventing any double feed or the like caused by defective separation of bank bills in advance when any bank bill in a defectively stacked posture is present in the stacked bank bills while a lower portion of one bank bill is slipped below other bank bills. SOLUTION: The bank bill separating and delivering mechanism of the bank bill processor includes an evacuation means 43 for evacuating a bank bill stacking plate 12 downward by a moving means while bank bills S stacked on the bank bill stacking plate 12 are held by a bank bill pressing plate 50 and a bank bill holding plate 70, and a defectively stacked posture detection means 81 for detecting presence/absence of any defectively stacked posture of the bank bills S based on presence/absence of downward projection of the bank bills S held by the bank bill pressing plate 50 and the bank bill holding plate 70 while the evacuating means 43 evacuates the bank bill stacking plate 12 downward.
