PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric connector securing the sufficient strength of locking parts and maintaining the firmly locked state of the locking parts. SOLUTION: A plug connector 1 includes a terminal 10 extending in the fitting direction of the connector; a metal shell 20 surrounding the terminal 10 around an axis of the fitting direction and formed with an annular space 38A which is a part of a receiving space 38 for receiving a receptacle connector 2; and a synthetic resin housing 30 holding the terminal 10 and the shell 20. The shell 20 is divided in one circumferential position, and formed with a lock groove part 22 locking a locking protrusion 53 of the receptacle connector 2 in the fitting direction, in an internal wall surface forming the receiving space 38A. The housing 30 includes a cover part 36 coming in face contact with an external wall surface of the shell 20 over the whole periphery of the external wall surface to cover the shell 20.
