PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt transmission device, capable of easily checking for abnormality such as deterioration of transmitting performance of a transmission belt due to wetting of the transmission belt by watering or dropping-out of the transmission belt from a pulley. SOLUTION: The transmission belt 15 is formed of a material having electric resistivity smaller than an insulating material and larger than water. The device includes an electric resistance measuring means 30 which measures electric resistance of the transmission belt 15 in a state where it is laid over pulleys, and a determination means 31 which determines an abnormal belt state when the electric resistance value r measured by the measuring means 30 is out of a predetermined normal electric resistance value range (R<SB>L</SB>≤r≤R<SB>U</SB>).
