The method involves operating a bearing (1) corresponding to usage. Complete circulation period of the bearing is continuously measured. A curve characteristic of the measured circulation period of the bearing over the number of complete circulation is determined. The measured circulation period of the bearing and/or the curve characteristic are evaluated for evaluating operating performance of the bearing. The bearing is operated at rotation speed between 5 revolutions per minute and 120 revolutions per minute. An independent claim is also included for a device for evaluating operating performance of a bearing.
