PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type ice making machine capable of producing ice pieces of stable quality from an initial stage of an ice making operation. SOLUTION: This drum type ice making machine 1 includes an ice-making water tank 2 filled with ice-making water, a refrigerating circuit 5, and a cylindrical drum 3 disposed in the ice-making water tank 2. The cylindrical drum 3 has an evaporator 9 in the refrigerating circuit 5 inside thereof, and is rotated and driven by a geared motor 10. A microcomputer 14 starts the geared motor 10 to start the rotation of the cylindrical drum 3 when a prescribed first delay time ΔT1 has passed after starting a compressor 6 to start cooling of the cylindrical drum 3 by the refrigerating circuit 5 in starting the ice making operation. Here, the first delay time ΔT1 is a time necessary for sufficiently cooling the cylindrical drum 3 and allowing an ice layer to stably grow on its surface. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
