PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perfect binding bookbinding machine which can insert the inside cover during a bookbinding operation without cutting the inside cover and dividing the operation into two processes. SOLUTION: The perfect binding bookbinding machine operates as follows. A clamper 2 which holds a sheet bundle 1 moves to the left, then the spine processing of the sheet bundle 1 is performed by a roughening part 4, and the clamper 2 is stopped above a level plate 6 while being opened slightly. Thus, the inside cover 8 can be inserted into both sides of the sheet bundle 1. Next, the inside cover 8 is inserted into the clamper 2, then a cheese cloth 10 is set on a nipping part 5, and the clamper 2 moves to the right. Consequently, paste is applied to the lower end surface of the sheet bundle 1 by a pasting part 3. After that, an area near the edge of the sheet bundle 1 at the spine side is clamped from both sides by the nipping part 5, and as a result, the cheese cloth 10 is turned in. Since the cheese cloth 10 is positioned along the sheet bundle 1 and the inside cover 8, it is possible to attach the cheese cloth 10 to the sheet bundle 1 and the inside cover 8.
