PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat-plate display panel suitable for attaining a larger screen having higher resolution. SOLUTION: The flat-plate display panel is equipped with an envelope which is so configured that a periphery part of two opposing substrates 2, 3 across a barrier rib 10 is sealed with a sealing layer 51. A manufacturing method of the flat-plate display panel includes a step in which a sealing material is applied at least on one of the two substrates 2, 3; a step in which the sealing layer 51 is formed by fixing and calcining the applied sealing material; a step in which a top part of the sealing layer 51 in a fixed and calcined state is flattened; and a step in which the two substrates 2, 3 are made to overlap via the flattened sealing layer 51 and are sealed by making the sealing layer soften.
