An acoustic wave device is provided with a piezoelectric substrate, an interdigitated comb electrode provided atop an upper surface of the piezoelectric substrate, a first wire provided atop the upper surface of the piezoelectric substrate, an organic insulator covering at least a portion of the first wire, a second wire provided atop a first portion of an upper surface of the organic insulator, and inorganic insulators covering at least a second portion of the upper surface of the organic insulator. Above the interdigitated comb electrode, an excitation space for exciting the piezoelectric substrate is formed. The second portion upon the upper surface of the organic insulator faces the excitation space across the inorganic insulators. The acoustic wave device has good high-frequency characteristics and has a high long-term reliability.
