<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cationic azo dye having high brightness and color development and excellent in heat resistance, wet heat resistance, water resistance, etc., and a composition produced by using the dye. <P>SOLUTION: There are provided the cationic azo dye expressed by formula (1) and an oil dye or aqueous dye composition containing the dye.
