A moulded box of synthetic material for dates &c. comprises a tray and a lid, the lid having a lengthwise ridge 1, Figs. 1, 2 (not shown), on its inner surface, which surface is concavely curved on either side of the ridge. Recesses 8-14, 19, 20 in the inner side of the lid and its side walls form ventilation passages. The base 23 of the container is flat but the inner side of its walls 24, 25 which may have grooves cut in them to assist ventilation, slope outwardly away from the base. When the lid is placed on the box, the ridge 1 defines two rows for the contents and the recesses 8-14 form zones into which the contents may expand.
