PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To upgrade the software of an electronic apparatus such as a modem which has a USB interface operable with a complete protocol stack code in a normal operation via the USB interface during a booting operation of the electronic apparatus. SOLUTION: A boot code comprises a lightweight protocol stack code for the interface. The lightweight protocol stack code is composed of a subset of the layers of a complete protocol stack.
